What's all the fuss? Wicked music feature, decent UI, great navigation
I'm not sure what I'm missing here with the "this is a scam" reviews, but when I read the app description, it was ultra clear that the .99 only covered limited stuff, and that it was $10 each month if you want navigation. I was going to wait to purchase until I actually needed to navigate somewhere unknown to me, but couldn't wait to see what this was all about. Needless to say based on my star rating, I was pleasantly surprised.
I used it to go a few places in San Francisco. It did take me a few times to figure out the how to search for a business versus street address, but once I figured it out, it was a solid experience. Also, the navigation was surprisingly quick at recalculating when I made a wrong turn (in this case, on purpose). The music while driving was one of the coolest things in the app. I'm one of those weird people that still keeps my music separate from my phone - but once I make the big switch, I think this will be a useful feature in the app.
The traffic was pretty cool. I'll be interested to see how well it performs on my way to work tomorrow in highway traffic/travel.

Ok. Let’s try to look past all the overheated commentary on the pricing and look at what this app really does and what you pay for it.
For just 99 cents, Gokivo provides one-touch access to searches powered by Yahoo! Local with ratings and reviews by millions of users. You tap on a category and app immediately comes alive with push pins indicating what you’re looking for. You can find nearby restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, movie theaters, hotels, hospitals, and more based on your GPS location
The 99 cent version also offers display maps of an address, airport, point of interest or a favorite place. Click once and get step-by-step directions to get you where you’re going. (not voice-guided)
If this suits your needs, don’t pay a penny for anything else. A technical error in the application mistakenly said charges were by the minutes. That’s been corrected.
In the $9.99 a month subscription version you get many more features – like voice guided directions, live traffic updates and real time points of interest provided by Yahoo! Maps are more frequently updated in the subscription product. And the phone will automatically mute ipod when directions are announced then return to previous volume.
The sub version also integrates with your Contacts to navigate so you can click to navigate to any location in your address book.
I have been very pleased with the subscription level product. It’s fast, simple and always accurate. But if you don’t need all the services, just stick with the one buck version.
Very misleading and horrible app!!!!
This app is a very misleading app and doesn't completely advertise what you need to do in order to recieve full functionality!!!! I want my 99 cent back for this crap!! First you have to pay for the app then you have to pay for a certain time period for the voice directions.. What on gods great green earth is this app... It's trash that's what it is... Complete rip off!!!! Avoid this at all costs!!!!!!! Even if it costs more to avoid it than to pay for it avoid it it's garbage!!!! It's poop in a toilette!!!
