iTunes Review

The myth of Michael Jackson has been overshadowing his music for some time now. After several fumbled attempts (such as the overblown HIStory), the task of putting his work in context has been accomplished on The Essential Michael Jackson. This retrospective gives a sense of how the preteen star of the Jackson 5 transformed himself into a dazzling multi-media icon by his early 20s. Michael’s initial hits with his brothers — especially “I Want You Back” and “ABC” — have a zest that lifts them beyond mere bubblegum. After a few innocuous solo hits (“Ben,” “Rockin’ Robin’”), he fully gains altitude on his own with the infectious “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” and “Off The Wall.” The tracks taken from Thriller and Bad — especially “Billie Jean” and “Man in the Mirror” — capture Jackson at his apex, swerving effortlessly from honeyed balladry to sweat-drenched dance tracks. Such early ‘90s tunes as the New Jack Swing-ing “In the Closet” and the inspirational “Heal the World” find his talent transcending the controversies swirling around him. Forget the tabloid rumors; these tracks speak for themselves. If anyone doubts why Jackson became a legend, the evidence is here in this well-selected anthology.

The way you make me feel is sick.

There are a lot of great things in the world. Peace, the indianapolis colts, and the Ramones to name a few. But wacko-jacko-yes, i called him that-is at the rock bottom of my list. I guess my appionion off him wouldn't be what it is if he'd done a bit better managing his life and if i didn't hate all pop execept the beatles and I can't stop this feeling anymore. But the music is just awful! And the public reaction is just terrible! itunes is cashing in on is death like mad, when they should be realeasing actual albums by bands only represented by covers, like the Band Aid band (you've gotta love Do they know it's christmas?) or AC-DC. And all you "fans" you all thought, like the rest of the world, that he was a convict and couldn't wait until he died. now you all love him and claim to have loved him ever since the beginning with the Jackson 5 but porobably none of you we're born until the early 90's, in the Guns N' Roses and nirvana (two more favs) era. i hope wacko-jacko likes where ever he ended up, but until i find out, ledzepplin, classic rock and punk RULE!!!!!!!!!!!

You ppl are getting on my nerves bad.

by Freaking retards, go to hell

If you all look at the reviews all the way at the bottom right before his death you could see that it goes from five stars to 1-3 stars. Now why is that? Just because he's dead now means you give him your respect that some of you never gave him before? Some of you probably knew nothing at all about his life until you saw him on the news. It just annoys me how none of you cared about him before and now your calling him the "king of pop." Please if you were never a fan of him then stop this b.s. cause it's really getting on my nerves. I was not a fan of mj nor will I ever be but I will just say let the man be.
