Album Review

Steppenwolf were a band that straddled the fence between jamming hard and maintaining catchy AM radio hits, and for a while they pulled it off effortlessly. Here's their story in a nutshell: all the big hits that have kept the group a staple on oldies and classic-rock radio stations for years. "Born to Be Wild, "Magic Carpet Ride," "Rock Me," and "The Pusher" are all here, along with lesser-charting singles and tracks from later albums.

What a deal!

An incredible value. Of course the individual albums are much deeper and show the true range of this band. You can't tell it from the info given by iTunes but Snowblind Friend was written by the late great Hoyt Axton, better known as the father in the movie Gremlins and the artist in the old Busch beer commercials ( ...head for the mountains...). Much of the music on this albun drove and inspired the PowerRock movement of the late '60's and early '70's.

This is one of the standards by which the 1960's music scene is judged. The album expresses the mood of the country during the vietnam war era. This album is a must have for all true music collectors. One of the truly great albums of it's time.I felt their songs told stories about real life just as Dylan did.A piece of music history for $7.99.You can't do much better than that.

Great Throwback Album
