iTunes Review

Latter-day SoCal punks Saosin raised their profile on the Warped Tour before making their long-playing and major-label debut with this self-titled disc. With a polished style owing as much to ’80s mainstream rock – think Night Ranger’s faster numbers – as to the Offspring, whose Dexter Holland is an obvious influence on singer Cove Reber, the band reflects an of-the-moment collapse of stylistic barriers. (Also, everything on the record is engineered to sound as if it’s been turned up to 11, if not 12.) Post-adolescent angst informs most of the songs, though the likes of “Collapse” and “Some Sense of Security” turn away from self-involvement to include and cheer on listeners in the same state of confusion. “You’re Not Alone,” goes another one, and isn’t that really the point?

Awesome Debut

Nothing cold have prepared me for how awesome this album is. Gone are the days of Anthony Green and the reign of Cove Reber is upon us. Whom having found is own voice has drastically changed the bands sound in good way. The rerecordings of great songs such as Bury Your Head and Sleepers sound amazing with the improved production. The guitar, drum, and bass sound as dynamic and amazing as ever. Not one filler song on this 40+ minute album. Go buy it at Best Buy for 5.99 now!

the OC kids go for the gusto, but still manage to represent.

At first listen, some of the tracks off of SAOSIN's first (eagerly anticipated) full length album may sound over produced, sleepy, and a bit radio friendly (where's all of the screaming??)..... but after a good couple of listens this album will grow on you. the kids in SAOSIN definitely haven't forgotten how to rock by any means... their powerful, slashing guitar riffs paired with frontman cove rebers captivating, and unique vocals still bear the trademark SAOSIN style. this album is replete with enough hooks to satisfy listeners for days... new fans, AND OLD will love "voices" and "collapse", but i think every single track may have something amazing about it.. like i said they will grow on you... buy this album... trust me.

Amazing CD

Propelled by aggressive drums and deeply melodic vocals often intertwined with brutal screaming, Saosin is one of the few screamo-oriented bands that still manage to have every piece of a song fall together just right. This CD is absolutely an incredible listening experience and i highly reccommend buying it as soon as you can. Fanatstic!

Formed: 2003 in California

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s

California-based Saosin burst onto the post-hardcore scene in March 2003 with their explosive screamo-tinged debut EP, Translating the Name, on Death Do Us Part. For the recording, the band was comprised of vocalist Anthony Green, former Slayer guitar tech and drummer Pat McGrath, guitarist/vocalist Justin Shekoski (ex-As Hope Dies), and former Open Hand members bassist Zach Kennedy and guitarist/vocalist Beau Burchell. The band's name comes from a Chinese proverb that means "small heart," as in...
