Album Review

Toto XX: 1977-1997 is hardly the definitive collection that its title suggests. Essentially, this is a Toto reunion album, featuring nine new studio cuts and four live tracks, including a version of "Africa." The band sounds better than you might expect, but the material isn't all that different from that on Tambu — the performances are a little tighter, slicker and better. That said, it's not particularly interesting to anyone except hardcore fans, who will probably be pleased to hear an approximation of the original lineup back in action, regardless if the tunes are memorable or not.

This is an amazing collection, maybe not the most popular songs, but thats what makes it sooo Great. Alot of good music!

For good times sake

Being a Toto fan since the very beginning, this is a rare jewel in my collection. I mean, it may not be their greatest album but certainly it brings me way back to those days where musicianship and fresh ideas were on the rise in the band. Jeff's appearance is both magical and rich. If you are a truly Toto fan, you'll treasure this album, give it a try!

A good collection of outtakes and B-sides

Not the best of Toto's album's, but a welcome collection of rare and unreleased material. Miss Sun and Goin' Home are highlights, and the album showcases this bands incredible musical diversity. While the songwriting and production don't reach the same levels as some of their greatest works, the music is still solidly Toto. Check it out.
