by SailingFan2008Recently aluded to in the novel "Damas, Dramas, and Ana Ruiz" by a local author, Girl In a Coma is a rockin' San Antonio band that really became a part of the town's culture. Their album 'Both Before I'm Gone' is set up right where you check out of the music section of nearly every Barnes and Nobles. Keep on Rockin you guys! The music is great.
Worth It, in Live or Album form
by irrevERINtGIAC puts on one of the most energetic and satisfying shows, so if they're in your town, go see them. Their new album Trio BC is equally mesmerizing, and I just bought it (the only album I've purchased in 2009).

It's a term coined in America, by our community.
It isn't the "hispanic" form of "redkneck" or "hillbilly" as you said in your post.
This is like saying "African-American" is an insult. The word in our community, serves to acknowledge an American nationality.
Do not criticize journalists for using the correct term in discussing Mexican-Americans. As we are overwhelmingly unrepresented, you are doing harm to our community by spreading such ignorance.
