iTunes Review

One of Southern rock’s greatest five-year runs began with this album. Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd was the work of a Florida band steeped in tough English guitar bands like the Who and the Yardbirds. The record is best remembered for the show-stopping “Free Bird,” which builds from proud, regretful ballad to all-out triple-ax flag waver. As it demonstrates, Skynyrd was able to work many moods, and the rest of Pronounced serves as an equally smart example. “Gimme Three Steps” is a funky shaggy-dog story that could perhaps only have come out of the swamps (or off a Coasters 45), while “Things Goin’ On” is the first of singer/lyricist Ronnie Van Zant’s gimlet-eyed social pronouncements. From here, they began winning fans across America, and not a few from the other side of the Atlantic – Pete Townshend, for one.

Things Goin' on

by COUNTRY BOY STUCK IN THE SUBURBS!!

If you just get some songs from this album you are missing out. songs 5, 6, & 7 are real back woods and real raw!! "Things Goin' on" is just plain ROCK n ROLL at it's finest!! with some great Honky Tonk Piano. "Mississippi Kid" & "Poison Whiskey" are hard rocking tunes with real "southern style". "Simple Man" is the most popular song on this album for a reason!!!

Check out "I'm a Country Boy" and "Made in The Shade" from "Nuthin Fancy" too!!

Lynyrd Skynyrd made "ALBUMS" that rocked from start to end & side to side!!!

"IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I MEAN WONT YOU STAND UP AND SCREAM"

one of the best ever

i first heard "Tuesday's Gone" at my cousins funeral, i think its one of the sadest songs i've ever heard it hits you hard and reminds me of my cousin everytime i listen to it. I wish bands of today could at least write songs 1/100 as good as skynryd but thats asking for too much. Buy this album and listen to what rock n' roll should sound like.

Lynyrd Skynyrd was the definitive Southern rock band, fusing the overdriven power of blues-rock with a rebellious Southern image and a hard rock swagger. Skynyrd never relied on the jazzy improvisations of the Allman Brothers. Instead, they were a hard-living, hard-driving rock & roll band —...
