iTunes Review

When Collection was released on Caroline in 1986, three years after the dissolution of the original Misfits, it was the first step in confirming the band’s posthumous legacy. Punk rock prided itself on individualism, and the Misfits’ blend of hooks, humor, and horror movie attitude was completely original. Beginning with the band’s earliest 1978 sessions at New York City’s C.I. Recording and ending with a batch of the band’s final recordings from 1983, Collection offers a back alley tour of a band who released just two official LPs during its tenure. While Walk Among Us and Earth A.D. are great albums, the Misfits were a singles band at heart and their best work was non-album tracks like “Die, Die My Darling,” “Where Eagles Dare,” and “Teenagers From Mars.” Most bands tend to soften as they grow up, but Collection shows the Misfits becoming more aggressive and abrasive towards the end of their career, as attested by “Earth A.D.” and “Green Hell,” two tracks from the 1983 sessions. Though Collection actively refuses the rock nerd’s need for completion, this somewhat arbitrary compilation has endured because it hangs together like a well-crafted album. Diehard fans still regard this as the primary introduction to the inimitable world of the Misfits.

Classic!!!!!!!!

Zombies, murder, B-movies, and three power chords. Everything an immature male adult could want. Amazing vocalist and catchy songs. Give this album a try u wont be disapointed. Even got to see em live. Only was singing but they still put on a good show.

Misfits' One of True Punk!

I like classic punk, including this one, Misfits. 'S horror punk. They played their instruments very well. These songs are about true Halloween! 'S scary, but wicked good. Glenn Danzig rocks so hard! Jerry Only's a beastie!

Much has already been said about this classic, essential box of hardcore horror-tinged ecstasy.
However, some things can't be said enough.
My personal favorites are the soaring "Where Eagles Dare", the oddly semi-political (or maybe just sexual) "Bullet" and "Mommy Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight", which is energetic, scathing and deadly to unsuspecting listeners.
That being said, a few of the tracks seem to be slightly different versions than the ones we're familiar with and a little bit of the instruments' edge has been lost.
Conclusion: this is a great place to start your collection of the best punk has to offer.

Genuinely shocking or tasteless, campy fun? It was sometimes hard to tell which way the Misfits wanted to be taken, and the immense cult following that has grown up in the years after their actual existence (1977-1983) seems divided in its own assessment. It certainly wasn't the Misfits' musicianship...
