Customer Reviews

there is hope

I don't rate an album as 5 stars unless I am really impressed. This album did just that. Mainstay has definitely matured since "well meaning fiction". This album has a bit more upbeat and positive sound than the last album...though the lyrics are just as raw and meaningful. I wish more bands knew what they were actually doing...like Mainstay.

P.S. Check them out in concert.

Amazing Album

This album is excellent. I loved the first cd, but this one shows how much the band has continued to grow in musical and song writing capabilities. The album still reflects the band's unique spin on rock while venturing into some more worshipful songs. It presents a fresh sound that stands out from the many rock bands that sound the same these days. Every song is great, which is not usually the case for most ablums. The quality of the music is reflective of the quality guys who made it. If you ever have a chance to see them in concert you'll see what I mean. They continue to reflect God in a positive way through their song writing and the way they treat their fans. Don't miss this great cd.

Moving up to the front of the line....

I have never heard of Mainstay before this album was released, but I am sorry that I haven't. They have a very strong sound with excellent hooks and good production. However, the words have some depth and the music is one of the better sounds emerging from the morass of CCM these days. Become Who You Are and Believe both have emerged as early favorites, and the sound reminds me of Daughtry and harder Lifehouse. However, I won't do them a disservice of making over-reaching comparisons. This is a unique group with a sound that has them moving up in the pack to take a place among the better Christian bands of today. Well done, guys.

Biography

Formed: Minneapolis, MN

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s

Forming in the suburbs of Minnesota, Mainstay originally started out as a punk trio in the garages of its members. It wasn't until college in Minneapolis that the group — vocalist and guitarist Justin Anderson, drummer Ryan DeYounge, and bassist Dan Ostebo — sharpened its style into its current brand of melodic rock with a Christian message. With a more focused direction, the guys started to build a fan base around town with a self-released EP before signing with the management firm Smallman...
