So-So

Musically speaking, Desperation has something going for them -- harmony (both pop voice and musical harmony) are decent, and the tempo for each song is relative to the meaning in the lyrics.

If I must speak solely about the lyrics in light of their mission, a Christian worship band, the lyrics in half of the songs are watered down; songs like "I Know" and "Good to Me" reiterate basic concepts of who God is, and consequently, it is hard to dig deeper when meditating on the lyrics. I find myself saying, "I know that. What's new?" However, I do have to remember that any song that glorifies God is always good.

So, although the music is decent, and the lyrics could use a little more power behind them, it isn't about me or any of us in the end, but God.

Should you buy this album? I would hesitate to say 'yes', but then again, I wouldn't necessarily say 'no'. Base your decision off of the substance behind the songs rather than the popularity of this band.
