What Happened to All the Trees?
How disconnected the United States from the truth of Afghanistan.
Through his book and now the film, Khaled Hosseini shines only the smallest light on the reality of life for those who either chose to stay or had no way to leave. The metroploitan city of Kabul, is a far off place from the smoldering ruins that great a now adult Amir, as the "beard Police" patrol and and one-legged children run to hide.
How can a country obsessed with spoiled rotten celebrities, $7.00 coffee, dirty politicians or the latest mind-numbing video game ever hope to offer assistance or relief to others in need. Or are these in fact merely diversions to help us forget what we never really cared enough to know?
The prayer in English as Amir searches for Sohrab is heartbreaking. Can anyone identify it or the artist, as it has been wrongfully omitted from this soundtrack?
A thought provoking movie with excellent music
The music is, in all, perfectly supplement to the movie. I got this CD immediately when I found it in bookstore.
Everyone who has been sick with the Hollywood deja vu and brain numbing pop music should give this one a try.
Alberto Iglesias
The score was composed by Alberto Iglesias. He, not Michael Nowak, should be listened as the artist. What a terrible injustice this is.
