Album Review
The glowing acoustic pop of Life on the Inside went somewhat under the radar, seemingly readying the world for a breakout by one of the better vocalists in the CCM world. Roots Run Deep wasn't quite that breakout, but it is still an enjoyable listen as Jadon Lavik lends his pristine voice to familiar hymns and spirituals. The collection rarely stirs louder than mezzo forte, though it benefits from pop-style arrangements. It's hard to know whether this album would have stood out had it been released a few years earlier, when it seemed a new hymn collection hit the shelves every week (Jars of Clay, Michael W. Smith, Newsboys, Avalon, for starters). The point is moot, however, since this album could stand on its own in any era.

New twist on old hymns
by KnitChicI was looking for a collection of modern-day hymns when I found this CD. It's a great album that makes the words of old-time hymns pop - literally - with the upbeat sound and meaning. This is an album I'm not ashamed to share with my non-Christian friends! I highly recommend it!
Earthy Acoustic Goodness!
by TruthSeekerJadon has really crafted a gem in this outstanding collection. These "Roots Run Deep" into a lush, acoustic guitar-driven garden of eden. There's not one tired, uninspired retelling of these classic hymns. Jadon's smooth vocals sounds like cream of angel soup!
Great album by up and coming star...
by jsmrekarWith each album released we can really see Jadon grow as a musician and this album is no exception. The words of these classic hymns are timeless. They were timeless when Johnny Cash released "My Mother's Hymn Book" and look at the career he launched. I think this album is a forshadowing of great things to come. Jadon is just getting started. I would love to see roots run deep Vol. II, III & IV. The new take he has on these classic melodies is both refreshing and honest.
The thing lacking from popular culture, more oft than not, is honesty and truth. Jadon never ceases to amaze me with his ability to deliver on these important aspects of art-making. The album art is hip and modern. Come thou Fount has been tearing up the charts and i don't doubt that a couple more of these songs make it as singles. For 99 cents you can try one of these great songs and judge for yourself.
