iTunes Review

Disturbed's fourth studio album begins forebodingly with an apocalyptic air-raid siren akin to Black Sabbath's "War Pigs," but where "War Pigs" rails against waging war, the title track here punches with prideful fighting lyrics that almost sound tailor-made for a military recruiting commercial. Those hardcore metal fans who have previously turned their noses up at Disturbed for not sounding heavy enough (or for being too melodic) may be pleasantly surprised at Indestructible's more virulent playing and conceptual songwriting, which is not to say that the chorus on "Inside The Fire" isn't as catchy as the song is brutal. David Draiman sings and screams like a man possessed as his lyrics reveal a dramatic narrative about someone who can only become reunited with his suicidal lover's soul by taking his own life to join her in the fiery cantos of hell.

Their Greatest.

All bands fall into two categories: bands whose earlier material is better, and bands whose later material is better. Out of all the bands I listen to, Disturbed is the only one whose music is truly great throughout all their albums. While they have certainly evolved, letting go of the kind of rap-esque sound in their first album, which was not as good, though still amazing, they have still retained their great Disturbed sound. And while Disturbed is still only second on my list of great bands (below SOAD), they are still the only band I have ever found where none of their songs are bad, yet each still has a unique sound to it. Truly Disturbed's greatest album.
