iTunes Review

Determined to keep evolving at a rapid pace, with album number four, 2000’s Kid A, Radiohead threw themselves into the techno world without losing their rock-based origins. Having established themselves as genuine musical inquisitors with the pop experimentalism of The Bends and the carefully layered narcotic haze of OK Computer, Radiohead took to their next step with complete dedication, not merely adding beats and electronics, but reshaping their entire sound and approach to songwriting. Kid A can be an elusive listen. The songs don’t often present hooks in traditional fashion while the rhythms sometimes upset as much as please (“In Limbo,” “Morning Bell,” “Idioteque”). “Everything In Its Right Place” opens things in an icy mood with its ethereal keyboards and muted but impatiently ticking rhythm. The title track follows with sparse keyboards and mumbled in tongue, distorted vocals. “How to Disappear Completely,” with singer Thom Yorke evoking an ominous twilight, slowly unfurls as a hypnotic piece where the dead seem to be rising over the mist. It’s more music intended for imagined movie soundtracks than the rock arena.

And this one has been called the best by far but no matter how much i listen to it im left confused. Grow Up...Literally

Birth through death. Literally, Musically. If you want to listen to this album you need to download it as a single file because removing any song from the album's context renders it broken. And for the haters, I was born on Radiohead with this album. It doesn't lessen The Bends or OK Computer to me that I fell in love with the "Kid" first. Sometimes serendipity is more important than being the first kid on the block to have an album. That's where "grow up" comes in. You know you should give something a try but until you can allow yourself that option it just isn't right. Kid A was that option at the right time. Emotions and timing are more important than blind faith.

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s

Radiohead was one of the few alternative bands of the early '90s to draw heavily from the grandiose arena rock that characterized U2's early albums. But the band internalized that epic sweep, turning it inside out to tell tortured, twisted tales of angst and alienation. Vocalist Thom Yorke's pained lyrics...
