I barely know these guys, but they're good. Now, I bet you're all asking yourselves "How does he know them in the first place?"
Answer: My band accidentally took these guys' band name. (They didn't take my band's name because, a) my band just formed in November, b) we're very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very (ALRIGHT ENOUGH WITH THE VERYS) unknown. Music in itself: need to listen more

Unique Sound from Talented New Artist!

The Marches' brilliant debut album, 4 a.m. is the New Midnight, delivers an incredibly unique and varied sound that transcends categorization into any music genre. Entirely composed by (and nearly entirely played by) classically trained saxophone and piano virtuoso, Richard Conti, the album is part electronica, part indie rock, with heavy doses of jazz, Mo-Town, swing, and even classical. The album shifts between two equally engaging moods, the first being playful and upbeat, best exemplified by "Don't Love With Your Eyes," "So Ill," "Wish You Were Here," and "4 am is the New Midnight." These tunes make you want to throw on a flapper dress and do your best Betty Boop! Its other mood, to the contrary, are the more down tempo, atmospheric songs, like the brooding and bluesy "Need Me Back," the ethereal, saxophone-driven "Ghost of a Chance" (on which Conti's sax runs are out of this world!) and my absolute favorite, "Sometimes Sex isn't About the Money." This sardonically titled track opens with an originally composed classical piano intro, before the sharp contrast of a funky drumbeat and gorgeously harmonized vocals seem to fill out the remaining aural space, creating a hauntingly grandiose, truly original song (there's also an amazing acoustic version I found on the Marches' myspace page). Other tracks worth mentioning are "Bad Touch," for its jumpin base line and driving horn diddies, with a surprising Latin-influenced breakdown spicy enough to compete in any salsa club; "Bobby Brown" for its over-the-top vocoder use and ridiculous lyrics that kind of grow on you in an experimental/comic sense; and "Cold Hands Warm Heart," with its melancholy sax melody and uniquely staccato, almost percussive vocals in parts.

This album feels like a very personal vision, chalk-full of complex runs and arrangements and unique fusions of many different musical styles. I honestly cannot recommend this album enough, The Marches' 4 a.m. is the New Midnight!
