Hooked
by Arlington Hapa HaoleThe lyrics of this album resemble those of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska, bleak stories about the dark side of life, but the singing is transcendent. Jenny's voice is perfect and the harmonies by the Watson twins are amazing, and yet there's not a trace of melodrama or artificial sentimentality. From the moment I heard "You Are What You Love" on Pandora, I was hooked.
Lewis's First Masterpiece
by supernova9"Rabbit Fur Coat" is a culmination of strong songwriting, production, and musicianship that is as mesmerizing as it is revelatory. Each listen reveals a new wrinkle and moment to explore. I've had the pleasure to see Jenny Lewis live twice, and both times have been worth every penny. A kinship with Mike Mogis and Matt Ward have been a boon for the production of these songs. This album sits among the very best of the 1st decade of music in the 21st century.
I'm suprised...
by OverForTheUnknownSoliderI love this album, but I'm suprised that the title track, "Rabbit Fur Coat," isn't more popular. For me, it made the album. It's an incredibly personal song (the mother IS Jenny's mother), and very well performed. So why is it less popular than "Rise Up With Fists!!" ? Truly the entire disc is fantastic, but I'm perplexed.
