Album Review
Ruth is at its best when dispensing catchy, melodious alternative rock that captures the aims and ambitions of its young Christian followers. And if this is the criteria, then nearly every track on the band's sophomore disc, Anorak, deserves attention. At times they sound like Fastball, the Posies, Gin Blossoms, the Afters, Leeland, Switchfoot, and even Wilco. The band doesn't bend the rules much, opting to simply do what they do best. This doesn't translate as a lack of willingness to experiment, but more like the security to say that they don't need to make a huge artistic statement other than being who they are. Highlights include the poignant "Nothing to Hide," the twangy "Forgetting to Remember," and the straightforward declaration "Who I Was and Who I Am." Ruth isn't earth-shattering, but there's no need to be when you're this good at pleasantly simple alternative rock.

Should've bought a t-shirt...
so i went to the Appetite for Construction Tour in 2007 which featured Relient K and Switchfoot (two of my favorite bands :-] ) and was reallyreally excited to see both of them rockin' out that night. But i had never heard of this little band named Ruth who was opening for them. While they were playing, half the people in attendance were in the lobby trying to get their Switchfoot and/or Relient K apparel. Which saddened me - those poor guys trying to get their music out there and everyone here's taking their performance as an opportunity to go get RK/SF merch before the "real show" started. There was no one at the little Ruth merch booth. I had been *ahem* using the facilities at this time, so when i came back out into the lobby and saw this spectacle, i felt for poor Ruth and their empty merch table and their lack of audience. I almost went and bought a Ruth T-shirt right then and there, just because, well, i wanted to support them and their music AND their gas money fund. BUT, i had had my heart set on a Relient K tshirt and had only brought with me enough cash for one shirt (DANG expensive those things were), so it just wasn't gonna fly for me. However, i figured, if i can't buy a tshirt then ill just go watch them and support them that way. So i did, and way completely blown away. They were amazing - almost like a mini-Switchfoot!! I was perplexed as to why so many people were choosing to forgo witnessing such an awesome performance by such a talented band. So i bought Secondhand Dreaming a few days after the concert. Now, a year-and-a-half later, this little but talented band that no one wanted to watch for fear of losing their spot in line at the RK/SF merch table is headlining tours, has their second album out (which is just as amazing if not more amazing than Secondhand Dreaming), and has just grown so much in both popularity and musicality. Needless to say, I am very proud of my little Ruth and their hearts for ministry through music. Love ya guys, and i pray that you continue to have a passion for Christ and music.
God Bless,
Kelsey.

A Step Up...
This newest album from Ruth is a step in the right direction. Their debut release seemed a bit too fluffy and melodic, however, Ruth managed to maintain the meldoic tone of their music while creating a more driving sound. I am definitely pleased with the transition into the sophomore release! Songs are easily related to Christianity without forcing religion down your throat. Good sound, good lyrics. I would recommend this to pretty much anyone I know!
AMAZING YES IF U AGREE!!!!
This band has incredible songs followed with an astounding lead singer who outshines most on the market today. With insparational concepts and beatifull music Ruth is truly an amazing band.
