Simply beautiful

It's hard to get worship music any more intimate than that which was heard on The Glorious Unseen's Tooth & Nail debut, "Tonight The Stars Speak," but here Ben Crist and the guys have been able to strip it down a little more and give their sound a little bit more of an organic feel.

"The Cries of the Broken" EP offers 5 tracks that were released on "Tonight The Stars Speak," but they are different enough to be worth the $6 purchase price. Well worth it.

The highlight track is 'Burn In Me' which is stripped to only a piano and, what my untrained ear believes to be a cello. It loses the ambient tones of the previous version and creates an even more beautiful sound.

New track, 'Your Promises Still Remain' is an exciting track that reminds us of our renewal through Christ and creates a joyous and real example of exciting worship.

The final track is the band's version of 'God of Wonders' and it is the best version of the song that I have ever heard.

This EP works well on its own because the setting feels different, whereas "Tonight the Stars Speak" is more of a day to day, while your walking to class, or doing the dishes worship album. Not to say that's a bad thing, but it's more universal; something that fits most anytime. "The Cries of the Broken" EP makes for something a little more intimate. Sit down in a low lit room, light a candle and turn on this version of the songs. I swear, you will feel like God is with you in the room. And I don't mean that to sound blasphemous in any way. I listened to this EP and felt like I was literally wrapped up in His arms.

The beauty of this EP is that it sounds intimate and broken (as the title suggests), and imperfect, much like the listener and the performers themselves. While listening to these songs, I was reminded that it's okay to be imperfect and broken, it is what God expects of us. Without continuing some kind of sermon, I will just say that it is nice to have found a band that recognizes the broken and imperfect, and makes it okay. Reminds us that no matter how broken we are, we can still worship our Lord intimately.

A passionate acoustic offering of songs we love!!

This is a wonderful EP of songs you are most likely already familiar with if you follow The Glorious Unseen. This EP is definitely worth your money! It's a nice change up from their mostly-ambient driven style to a more acoustic driven style. Ben's voice still holds them same amount of passion in these tunes and there's a welcome "organic" feel to everything.

Highly recommended!

Wonderful music...

Wow this EP is absolutely beautiful sounding- I LOVE the melodies. The words are very powerful and I really enjoy the realxed, worshipful feel of the songs, and bens voice is great... but he has an odd style of singing in kind of a choppy manner (which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) which for me detracts a little from the songs as a whole. But other than that I think their work is wonderful.
