iTunes Review

With Freedom Akon continues an astonishing course of success, delivering a set of songs so accessible they work as well whether played at top volume in a night club or as background music in a doctor’s office. Either way, you are unlikely to get these melodies out of your head. Club tracks like “Beautiful” and “Right Now (Na Na Na)” hurtle through the space without an ounce of weight or friction. When listening to these songs one has the feeling of being simultaneously propelled forward and suspended in thin air. Meanwhile, the disarmingly simple music-box melodies of “Sunny Day” and “Be With You” continue the tradition started by “Don’t Matter.” Other songs show Akon to be one of hip-hop’s most reliable point men. “Holla Holla” folds his voice and protégé T-Pain’s voice into a single entity, while the raspy rhyming of Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy forms a perfect complement to Akon’s innocence on “I’m So Paid.”

A Decent Junior Album

Overall Akon is a decent rapper, with his literally abundantly explicit first two albums Trouble and Konvicted, Akon was a decent rapper, I really only liked him cause Eminem was in one of those songs, but now the n and f bombs are gone, his style is more R&B than Hip-Hop, and Eminem is no where to be seen, so what's it like, well most of the album is pretty terrible including the first single Right Now (Na, Na, NO) It's just one of the most repetitive songs and just pointless at that, the only good songs on here are

Beautiful (The best song on the album which feels like a love song injected with harmony and R&B)

I'm So Paid (Lil' Wayne and Young Jeezy step in with him to create a cool club banger)

Holla Holla (T-Pain and Akon, what can I say, they work great together.)
