Well developed sense of melody
by Bob SoperThis album recalls the same understated, classy feeling experienced from early Neil Young & Joni Mitchell. Maybe Alela is part Canadian?
The arrangements are spare & acoustic, a perfect complement to her strong, clear voice. Her intonation can be occasionally a little shaky, but that only serves to make her seem less airbrushed and more genuine. This is a fine recording, I'm glad I bought it.
