iTunes Review
Vetiver's Andy Cabic (who most notably has worked alongside Devendra Banhart) evokes the world and aura of an early '70s singer-songwriter like no other. His smoky unassuming voice recalls the romantic sway of Eric Andersen's Blue River and his gently lulling rhythms and gorgeously acoustic orchestrated tunes never give away a contemporary nod. It might as well be 1972. Yet, Vetiver is never actually "retro." Tight Knit, Vetiver's fourth studio album, is its most accomplished and full-bodied, benefiting from simple, but well-recorded production. Vetiver's previous album, 2008's Thing of the Past was a collection of mostly obscure cover songs that indicated the ensemble's deep influences — from Loudon Wainwright III and Townes Van Zandt to Michael Hurley and Iain Matthews. Here, those influences are internalized and tracks such as the lushly exuberant "Rolling Sea," the jaunty, shuffle of "Everyday," the Cabic-only "Down from Above," and the nearly as sparse "On the Other Side" reflect a laid-back vision of the world that's as soothing as it is of its own time and place.

This is some of the most boring, uninspired derivative crap....
by ciaobelloYou can see that they are trying to cover a lot of ground here--- changing styles and genres from one track to the next. But none of it is ever interesting or convincing. The melodic range is dull and almost nonexistent. I could put this on in the background and hear traffic noises more compelling. This band will fade away into obscurity making no more than a momentary contribution to their hipster fans...
Naturalismo?

Tight-Knit is well written, soulful, melodic, psychedelic folk music that is sure to sooth the most savage beast. It hits the perfect balance of being well recorded without sounding over-produced.
The music talents and deep folk influences of Andy Cabic and company are unmatched in the world independent folk music.
I haven't heard such beautiful music since The Creek Drank the Cradle. Tight-Knit does not disappoint.
Sub Pop
by jonforemanisbeastI really dig this album. I was thinking, it sort of had a Shins sound to it, then I saw the record label. "Oh, Sub Pop."
They're crankin' out some good stuff over there. Well done.
Anyway, back to the point, I just think this is something that you could listen to for a while, and not get tired of, unlike the absolute rubbish that is being promoted currently.
Chill......
