Some true depth!!
by speedmyghostI stumbled upon Del Marquis solo music while googling the Scissor Sisters (my guilty pleasure) I gave a few listens to the sample tunes here.. I was pleasantly surprised to find a hook driven, smart, sexy, and contemplative record. It's a modern recording with some reminiscent flavors of Tears for Fears, Prince, Level 42, maybe even David Sylvian..? Del Marquis is not my guilty pleasure like Scissor Sisters... I will play this proudly at my next party with my artsy snob friends with pride! This is and instant classic, my summer soundtrack!

by marvelboy74You won't be sorry. If you don't like the Scissor Sisters, that's ok because this doesn't sound like them at all. Del's voice is pure without lots of embellishment which suits just fine. The style is somewhat varied but works well together as a whole. As it is a solo project, you might expect him to branch out more that just playing guitar and he does, doing piano, keyboard and drum programming. Character Assassination and Harmony Park are written by Del alone and the other two are co-written by him. Del's talent is often overshadowed in the Sister but here he shows a lot of strength as a songwriter. It's only a couple bucks too. So why are you still reading the review and not purchasing yet?
The guy doesn't even sing his own songs.
