groove's you right through your everyday traffic jam with ease

In a day of over-inflated ego centric and downright poisonous music, this is indeed a fresher approach. AT LAST! SUNLIGHT! With an enlightened warm feel, Kirk finds a way to bring you to a calmer more present state of mind. Traffic jam remedy! Even the songs about hardships the tone is set whereas you don't need to feel doomed for life. No matter what, life's not so bad is it? I can't help but think, we're dealing with a man that exudes nothing but the best as both person and musician! The kind of person I imagine eating healthy, and being heathy, so his music is healthy for you, <if that makes sense>... I can tell he's quite literate in the musical language. Musical grammar so solid that technically clever passages don't distract you, they compliment the music. And there ARE some cool things going on here musically, in a Steely Dan kind of way. Listen to it twice and the second time think about that. Emerges from a UNIVERSALLY enjoyable tone, this album isn't here to show off meaningless blather, start a war, cry about wounds that won't heal or kill your ex-girlfriend's dog for microwaving your heart. I often ask myself listening to today's music; what ever happened to beautiful music? Why not be happy? I found my answer with this album. A humble enjoyable masterpiece to dance you through that next traffic jam. Simply, why not?

Why title a review? Seriously?

Obviously "Theme" is the best ever but the other tracks are good too, I guess. Seriously though, I really enjoy "The First Time" and "The Mayor". The latter sounds to me so much like a West Coast version of a down and dirty juke joint tune, but without being derivative. I just imagine a sticky, hot summer night of cheap beer, old bar flies and grizzled old musicians - the forgotten best in their fields.

The cool thing about this album though, is that if dirty sweat isn't your thing, you've got the panoply of human emotion and experience, from the dirt to the lighthearted and the sarcastic.

Good job.
