Album Review

Not Without a Fight arrives in early 2009, a year in which the intersection between pop-punk and emo-pop has grown impossibly crowded with young, fresh-faced bands looking to funnel their adolescence into hit records. Pitted against that sort of youthful energy, New Found Glory runs the risk of appearing far too old to play this sort of music, the bulk of which caters to teenaged audiences in the first place. Not Without a Fight is par for the pop-punk course, however, receiving a boost from producer Mark Hoppus (who, at the age of 30, was still wooing high-school students with blink-182) and the mature performance of frontman Jordan Pundik, who sounds considerably less nasal here than on previous records. Unrequited love is still Pundik's subject of choice, and he peppers the songs with angry allusions to breakup letters, broken hearts, and unanswered phone calls. Unlike his younger pop-punk contemporaries, though, Pundik no longer seems smitten with the idea of a happy relationship; there are precious few traces of the urgent, here's-to-the-night ethos that other groups champion so heartily. There are also precious few singles here, with nothing approaching the radio-geared playability of "My Friends Over You" — although "Listen to Your Friends," with its syncopated guitars and ever-present harmonies, does come close. Taken as a whole, Not Without a Fight is a pleasant listen, mature in its outlook, and happily adolescent in its vigor.

in this time of pop emo and electronica music with all the pop punk and pop bands out there that all sound the same, its nice to know that New found Glory hasnt lost that good ol punk, non grung punk, sound. a disticnt sound. but a sound pleasing to the ear with wonderful guitar rifts. cool guitar rifts are starting to drift away and the new bands are focusd more on the hair being long and drifted to the side wile flatend by a womans hair straightener. and v neck shirts with woman like scarfs. nope, not for me. This new record that came out early spring whas a wow for me, because it didnt sound like their older starting stuff wich hadnt matured yet, still good, but in this new album they didnt let their selves change their entire genre like starting line did...totaly difrent band at the end. New found Glory kept their original and distinct sound but made it better. they are getting up ther in age, like all of us are , so if your a lover of this erra of punk wich is the good ol pop punk deal, then continue to suport these guys. some time soon they may put up their retierment and i hope when they do, they end with a good bang.

A New Found Glory Indeed!

In this album, you will find a faster, more aggresive and somewhat stronger sound from one of my favorite bands of all time, and i loved every song, it strangeley gets you energized, a feeling i never before found in new found glory albums! Great buy! Buy it if you love set your goals or senses fail or bands like that! The only thing i found somewhat concerning is the fact that its not as catchy as the old songs, but when your listening, its amazing!

Whoa!

This entire album is just pure greatness. Pop it in your car CD player and listen to it over and over again. Great driving music, great rockin' out music, great period.
