As Thriving Ivory works its way up to the top, those who have been touched by the band's greatness know that they are one of the best alternative/piano rock bands of our day. Clayton Stroope's unique vocals provide a depth that only the best bands have been able to reach, yet he retains an important accessibility when he sings Scott Jason's profound lyrics. Drew Cribley does very well for himself with backup vocals, and, interestingly, plays the guitar in a way that matches and meshes with Stroope's voice almost perfectly. Bret Cohune plays the bass guitar and is very good, though he sometimes overwhelmed by the rest of the band's skill. Paul Niedermier's drums are outstandingly clean and precise, while occasionally waxing the image of a non-percussion instrument.
