Haunting
by ChiCharGregory Alan Isakov, and this cd in particular, embody for me the power of folk music. In my opinion, the best folk music succeeds in using understated subtility to convey the most intense emotion- the opposite of a power ballad, if you will (nothing against power ballads! they can be great too!). If you give it time, this cd, in a quiet, unsuspecting way, will get to you and stay with you for a long time. Haunting and beautiful.
Even Better than Before!
by dtm90I started listening to Isakov with his album That Sea, The Gambler and was captured by his smooth vocals and great songwriting. This latest piece of pretty is even better and Isakov has topped my expectations! My favorites are Evelyn and Big Black Car but the entire album deserves high praise. Thank you Gregory for your craft.
