iTunes Review

Voltaic is a live album, though not a typical one. It’s live in the sense that it was meticulously recorded in one take in a studio (only hours prior to taking the stage at the 2007 Glastonbury Festival in England). A snapshot of her two-year (2007-2008) Volta Tour, the album includes songs from Medulla, Homogenic, Post, Vespertine, and Volta. The tunes may not be new but they do sound fresh. “Army of Me” is anchored by a hypnotic industrial pulse, “I Miss You” features powerful horns, and the Afro-beat percussion of “Earth Intruders” is a fine touch. The band includes a 10-piece brass section and choir, and like a great live show the album has a dramatic arc that carries you along. Björk’s song structures and ideas are remarkable and her musical vision is unique and intricate, so hearing old songs in this context is a treat. As usual, her unmistakable voice and idiosyncratic phrasing is a wonder. She can sound like a jazz singer or a punk priestess and even when surrounded by edgy mechanical sounds she retains a rare tenderness and warmth on this fascinating, fabulous burst of creativity.

Absolutely amazing!!!

Even if you're not familiar with Björk, this is a great album to purchase! Showcases a bit of her abrasive side along with her softer, melancholic sound.

Refreshing****

You people make me laugh, especially these dumb teenagers, who doesn't even know who is the artist. I felt sceptic when i saw this record, cause not a big fan of live albums, but this album have nothing to compare with her previous remix/live albums. It sounds up to date,or even more than that, dynamicaly charged and extremely refreshing some of her 90's tracks here, like "I Miss You" , which never was my fav track before,i guess cause it's arrangement.+ it's definitely worth to check out her Volta Mix album, which is the bonus to this CD.

This Rocks!!!

I must first say this is NOT a remix album. Bjork preformed a set of songs in one take in a studio. It's a live album in a studio. This albums shows how sucky everyone else is and shows how well bjork can sing live. Also to everyone who says this is not music please I beg just shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And like the Auto tuned Pop crap you listen to is music....... This woman writes her and songs and produces her own music, most people in the industry cannot say that..... All you have to do to see my point is watch Katy Perry preform live!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Björk first came to prominence as one of the lead vocalists of the avant pop Icelandic sextet the Sugarcubes, but when she launched a solo career after the group's 1992 demise, she quickly eclipsed her old band's popularity. Instead of following in the Sugarcubes' arty guitar rock pretensions, Björk...
