iTunes Review

After his major-label band Whiskeytown broke up, Ryan Adams signed with indie alt-country label Bloodshot and made his masterful solo debut, largely with the help of producer Ethan Johns and the totemic duo of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. Packed with great stuff for the No Depression crowd - the epically bereft "Come Pick Me Up" may be his fans' favorite song, and if Buck Owens ever makes another record, it should have "To Be Young" on it. Heartbreaker also scores with moments of baroque pop ("AMY") and a ballad in the Lennonesque-confessional mode ("Sweet Lil Gal"). Finally, Adms wins points for his self-description "as calm as a fruit stand in New York and maybe as strange."

I have had this album since it was released in 2000. Everytime I listen to it I am astounded at how good the song writing is. It is a classic and is a "must listen to" for those who love American Music.
