iTunes Review
As with any Mew recording, the true magic contained inside their fifth studio album begins to unravel and captivate you upon repeated listens. But after the first play, the genius here is clearly evident. The intricate elegance of No More Stories Are Told Today… begins with “New Terrain,” a psychedelic orchestra of soundscapes and sonic textures that yields another song named “Nervous” if you play it backwards. (Mew leaves it to your own devices as to figure out how to do this). Not since the Stone Roses recordings from the early ‘90s has a band offered two songs in one by playing it in reverse. The summery “Beach” is a romantic tune that sounds like Josh Rouse collaborating with Air, and the danceable “Tricks of the Trade” recalls the kind of ‘80s electropop that accompanied clove-smoking club girls decked out in black and white. “Sometimes Life Isn’t Easy” is an otherworldly epic replete with a children’s choir and a sonic expanse big enough for stadiums. Fans of the band’s prog side will feel at home with the bookending “Reprise,” a tune worthy of listening to while wearing a cape.

Best impulse buy ever
by MrFuscoI had Frengers and loved nearly every track on it; so when I saw this on sale for eight bucks, I knew I couldn't lose out on anything. I'm reading reviews on how different this album is from their older stuff, which it is. It's more melodic, refined and dreamlike at times, which translates into a very accomplished work of music. I like the heavy, fast and rhythmic music of Frengers, but I can also enjoy the wide palette of sounds on this album, especially with headphones on. These songs will continue to grow on me just like "Am I Wry? No" and "The Zoookeeper's Boy" did. Also, if you can, check out the song "Nervous," cleverly backmasked within "New Terrain." That secret of theirs is almost like getting two songs for the price of one!

by cureboyI love when anyone asks who my favorite band is because I get to explain Mew and all that encompasses a fanship of this band. Each song is a work of art much like a painting- each with it's motif, palette, and emotion.
Each album is a seperate room in the gallery that is the discography.
Each song compels the beholder to take a step back and opens one's senses to let in the details- each note and harmony and time change like a brushstroke.
After decades of Legendary Pink Dots and PIL and Bjork, the glove, the cure, my heart feels most comfortable in the box that houses the collection of pieces signed "Mew."
