iTunes Review

Brand New write many of their songs on acoustic guitar, but it’s hard to imagine “Vices” stripped down because it sounds like singer Jesse Lacey is screaming for his mortal soul as demons drag him howling through the gates of hell. Conversely, the hushed and somber “Bed” is conducive to some romantic strumming around the campfire. “At the Bottom” plays like tougher Northwest indie rock with loud guitars and Lacey affecting a Built To Spill-inspired, nasal-toned inflection. The influences shift to early-‘90s English shoegazing on the lush and lilting “You Stole,” as reverb and delay splash beautifully dark and cold hues all over the guitars, while Lacey approximates the whisper-sung style that was prevalent in bands like Chapterhouse, My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive; halfway through the song the bridge erupts with a sonic wall of noise not unlike Nowhere-era Ride. While some may long for more of Brand New’s louder side, true fans will delight in hearing the band keep to their namesake by trying something that for them sounds brand new.

Classic Brand New

I am not going to bother with the song by song breakdown of this album. Suffice to say that Brand New comes at us with a new sound with Daisy. However, those that have history with this band will hear influence from all of their releases here. I am a diehard Devil and God fan. It was the album that got me hooked on this band. Daisy is not that good but I truly believe that Devil is one of the greatest albums ever made so take it for what it is worth. Bottom line is that Brand New goes after an "altered" sound with Daisy. It is pissed at times, melodic once in a while and always true to the band's original vibe.

Brand New is the band that everyone should know but so few of us do. Spread the word, make them famous and pray that they dont sell us out. So far, Brand New has done nothing but make us happy. Listen, love them and see them live. Nothing is better than 30,000 people singing about jacking your girlfriend in a bar!!

F-IN AMAZING...

This is probably the most raw I've seen Brand New, and it's beautiful. Jesse Lacey is pure emotion, whether he is yelling and whispering. "You Stole" and "Daisy" easily captured my heart. "Sink" and "Vices" are magic, Lacey's vocals give me chills everytime I listen- it was even better LIVE:] The lyrics never cease to get me analyzing, and they keep me amazed. If you've loved EVERYTHING Brand New has released, this is an amazing addition. Fans of only Deja will be more than likely disappointed like most were with TDAG, just keep an open mind to BN's amazingness. Easilyyy my favorite band<3
