iTunes Review
“D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” is perhaps the most pointed track (it appears twice) on 2009’s The Blueprint 3, the third and final (?) album in the “Blueprint:” series. Though it sounds like bragging when Jay-Z rails against one of the music business’ most over-used and abused technological innovations, it does add a tougher drive and focus to the underlying music. Jay-Z uses a slew of guests to help flesh out his musical vision here. Kanye West produces seven tracks (guesting on “Hate” as well), Timbaland handles three, while Young Jeezy (“Real As It Gets”), Drake (“Off That”), Swizz Beats (“On to the Next One”), Pharrell (“So Ambitious”) and Kid Cudi (“Already Home”) guest on tracks for an all-star party feel that ranges from raw and real to freaked out and spacey. Alicia Keys joins the chorus of “Empire State of Mind,” a track that Jay-Z the marketer might try pitching to the New York State Chamber of Commerce.

Hail to the King!
by Riri & HoneyIt's nice to hear a grown man rap. He is not rapping about about hoes, guns and drugs. He raps about life, music, growing up, enjoyment and, of course, how great he is (a staple for every rapper). He can back it up though. I thuroughly enjoyed listening to the whole album, especially "What We Talkin' About" and "D.O.A." It gets me through my work out and the morning commute.
Grows on you but annoying at times
by Diab!o"Death of Autotune" is brilliant. . . except for the parts where Jay sings off key on purpose. Someone totally should've cut that part, it ruins what is otherwise a great song, and his lyrics get the point across more than adequately without the nails-on-a-chalkboard effect of the "goodbye" chorus. The beats are great and the general production is very good throughout the release, but it could've been a lot better with more mature producing. He's so good with lyrics, except for the content. Everyone knows Jay is on top of the heap, he doesn't have to keep talking about it, and for a guy as worldly as he is, you'd think he'd find some more meaningful things to talk about. He has an entire song about being "off" the old beat-to-death hip-hop cliches, and its too bad he didn't extend that concept to the other tracks on the record. Oh well, another rap album that could've been better. . .
