iTunes Review

Unlike some major artists who wait for career-spanning box sets, Morrissey collects his B-sides at random intervals to keep everyone current. 2009’s Swords collects 18 tracks left off You Are the Quarry, Ringleader of the Tormentors and Years of Refusal, Morrissey’s unexpected new millennium comeback. Morrissey hasn’t tried anything truly new in years, but his wit has remained intact and as usual the titles give a solid insight into his hilarious self-mockery. “Don’t Make Fun of Daddy’s Voice,” “If You Don’t Like Me, Don’t Look at Me” (a near A-side if not for what sounds like a scratch vocal track) and “Because of My Poor Education” forever allow Morrissey to express his underdog status in the most unlikely of ways. Chrissie Hynde guests on “Shame Is the Name.” “Drive-In Saturday” is a live David Bowie cover. “The Never Played Symphonies” adds some dour orchestration. “Sweetie Pie” sounds like Moz is transmitting from another galaxy. “My Life is a Succession of People Saying Goodbye” continues Moz’s glorious losing streak. Always a good and delightfully weird time with Morrissey.

Get it. Excellent song ala the veins of "Speedway."

Who said B-Sides was wrong

Not every song recorded or written by Morrissey is a masterpiece but I have always found that some of my all time favorites are found as extra tracks released only with A side singles. A great example of this was "Shame is the name", the bonus track from his most recent album. It has proven to be my favorite. This is a great collection of songs for any Morrissey fan that hasn't already managed to buy them from the singles over recent years. With a couple of exceptions this material could have been released as an A side album and the reviews would have been astounding.

These unreleased b sides are better than most current bands "hits"

The review states that Morrissey hasnt done anything new in years well if its not broke dont fix it! this album came as somewhat of a surprise and morrissey's prolific streak of the past few years has produced some really great songs I would recommend the tracks with the lesser popularity ratings like Don't Make fun, Ganglord, And Teenage Dad.
