Since his emergence as a Christian music hitmaker in the late 1980s, Steven Curtis Chapman has remained committed to extolling the Lord through various musical detours and permutations. Speechless (1999) found the veteran singer/songwriter increasing the rock content of his sound noticeably. “I Do Believe” even manages to harness the riff from Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” in the service of the Word. The title track finds him humbled in the divine Presence, while “Great Expectations” challenges the listener to receive grace with an opened heart. Topical themes are explored as well – “The Change” pokes fun at the excesses of Christian pop culture, and the most moving track, “With Hope,” is a quietly powerful song dealing with a school shooting in Chapman’s home town of Paducah, Kentucky. At the center are Steven’s folksy vocals, filled with the same enthusiasm and directness that brought him success the start of his career. In sum, Speechless expresses Chapman’s unshaken faith with eloquence, energy and style.

by nishkantThis is probly one of his best cds ,with of course, Dive as the focus center. There are many other great songs like The Next 5 Minuets. This cd is defiently worth it. I have listened to this cd and others of his and still enjoy them. Go SCC!!!!!!!!!
