it is a cool album
by mike big papayou know I really like this album. Its one of those that dont effect you real dramatic at first but the more you listen to it the more you appreciate it . Its got that good old classic rock feel to it. I especially love "over the horizon" this album wiil definately minister to you as
it does me every time I listen to it.
Trying to fit in.
by jaybird89Anywhere from 1995 and on was a tough time for ANY christian rock band to fit in with these changing times and alternative music was such a broad scope to fit into. I'm not ragging on Petra at all, I had the album and I liked it even though it was different. I think they were experimenting with a new culture and music and it was worth a try, but the album just wasn't Petra. I respect them for trying something new and trying to reach a new culture that see's rock from a totally different light.
Bending badly to the times
by Eric R. SheltonThe easiest way to describe this album's shortcomings is to remember what hapened to so many other great rock bands when the post-Nirvana wave of alternative music hit. Guns n' Roses Spaghetti Incident, anybody? It's not that it's out and out bad- it's just very obviously NOT really Petra. This is a great rock (hair?) band trying to appeal to the times, and just trying too hard to seem genuine. When a band's image and music change so radically from what was done before, you have to wonder if marketing types didn't control this album in Bob Hartman's absence.
Buy an album with Bob in the band. Beyond Belief, Unseen Power, Wake-Up Call, or his awesome return in Jekyll & Hyde.
