Nice Treat
This is one of the best iTunes Originals I've purchased, Rob gives excellent commentary and really lets listeners inside his life and journey as a musical artist. His growth and musical maturity is all captured in this album which is a must for all fans. The alternate versions of some songs are brilliant as well, especially "This Is How a Heart Breaks" which is basically turned into a completely new song that is just as pure as the original. This is simply a great treat for fans and a great way to be introduced to both Matchbox Twenty and Rob Thomas' music for newcomers.
Excellent Acoustic Versions!
As a longtime matchbox twenty fan, I was thrilled when Rob Thomas' solo album was a success. This new iTunes album features new versions of some of his biggest hits. Not to be missed: the new cover of Smashing Pumpkins' "1979", and an acoustic "Ever The Same."
Excellent extension of an excellent album
This may be a biased review since I have been a long-time Tabitha's Secret, MB20 and Rob Thomas fan, but I think that this is album is an excellent opportunity for really seeing what Rob Thomas is all about. Every once in awhile an album comes along that you can listen to beginning to end w/o stopping. For me that was RT's "Something to Be". I think it was the best album of 2005. So if you are an established RT fan or casual listener, take a listen to this ITunes album and you'll have a newfound respect for a man who is a great songwriter and excellent performer. My only complaint is that I would have loved to hear his versions of "Let's Dance", "Maria" and "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" that he performed on his solo tour. All in all, an excellent album, a real treat for Rob and MB20 fans!!
