iTunes Review
The 1970s proved to be an era for hard rock bands to explore the further reaches of their ambitions. Canada’s Rush were among the groups who locked into a successful new formula that eschewed the conventions of the hit single for instrumental diversions and lyrical adventures that helped them stand out within the burgeoning scene. 2112 is Rush’s fourth album and the first to consistently capture their emerging vision. All accomplished musicians, the trio emphasized dynamics and thrilling trills to accentuate their epic musical vision. Arena rock was only beginning to find its place and Rush’s blend of progressive rock’s slow-building moods and their own anthemic powerchords proved to be an enlightening mixture. The title track is a seven-part, 20 minute epic where drummer Neil Peart’s Ayn Rand inspired lyrics are passionately expressed by bassist Geddy Lee’s shrieking delivery. The shorter selections that made up side two of the original album – “A Passage to Bangkok,” in particular – pointed up the band’s strengths as succinct writers as well. Rush became the exemplary power trio, every member finding their distinctive niche without sacrificing the collective power of the group sound.

one of the most important albums of all time
by queen of the 6this was one of the first albums I got by rush and I was blown away. I mean listen to 2112 and you actually feel like you are the man. next is a passage to bangkok which is my second favorite song of all time. twilight zone, great song. lessons is really great too. tears always makes me feel sad but great at the same time, and something for nothing is petty fantastico too!! This album (in my opinion) is the greatest album of all time. So, stop wasting your time reading this and buy it!

by A Modern MemoryMy friend loaned me this album a long time ago (as I had never really listened to Rush before), and less than one minute into the CD, I had to put down my history homework and just focus on the music. From then on, I have been hooked on Rush.
Alright, if you do not like this album, there is SERIOUSLY something wrong with you. From the very first synthesizer in "2112", the listener is launched into a journey of screaming Geddy Lee vocals, pounding Neil Peart drumming, and soaring Alex Lifeson guitar. "2112" was the second of the three sidelong epics that Rush created throughout their musical career. Coming after "Fountain of Lamneth", it was not a disappointment. Every song on this album is a winner, especially "The Twilight Zone", which I personally adore. This is around the time when Rush began incorporating more sounds and synthesizers into their music, and "A Passage to Bangkok" showcases this well. You will not regret buying this, and it's a given that any Rush fan will have this in their collection.

Something for Nothing is 2nd best, A Passage to Bangkok is 3rd, Lessons 4th, Tears 5th, and Twilight Zone is last and a bad and repetitive song. But don't let that tick u of!!!!!! On Gomusicnow.com, u can buy the title tracks for only 9 cents!!!!!!! (Without the rest of the album to!!!!)
