Album Review

Composer John Ottman helmed the baton for the X-Men franchise after the death of original maestro Michael Kamen and John Powell (United 93, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) took the reigns for the third installment, so it comes as no surprise that the myriad of themes introduced can be a bit much. Ottman gave the series some heft on X-Men 2 with his use of choirs and more than a little Mozart, a style adopted by Powell for X-Men: The Last Stand. Taking a cue from the sweeping and occasionally majestic Spider Man theme, Powell brings the weighty mythology of the beloved DC Comic to an audible level, upping the choral aspects, all the while paying homage to the previous composers themes — the inclusion of the weighty Dark Phoenix character demands a bit of gravitas. X-Men: The Last Stand is first and foremost the soundtrack to a bombastic summer blockbuster, and detractors of the genre will find little to sway them here, but it's a well-done piece of excess that deserves more than a smattering of applause.

X-Men Rocks, Dude!!!!

by Brutalkitty

I love the very powerful classical for parts of X-Men: The Last Stand. My favorites are:
The Funeral: The saddest part when Wolverine sadly discovers Xavier is killed and the funeral for him hosted by Storm.
20 Years Ago: The part when Professor Xavier and Magneto had a meeting with young Jean who have telepathic powers
Bathroom Titles: The part when young Angel cut his angel wings on purpose and his father told him to open the door and beginning of the movie
Dark Phoenix's Tragedy/Farewell to X: The coolest part when Jean's house get ready to be exploding by countdown
Fight in the Woods: Very cool part when Wolverine fights the villains in the woods in order to find Jean
Phoenix Rises: Very powerful and very emotional part when the action continues and in the end Wolverine killed Dark Phoenix.
Anyway, love the music; must-buy for any X-Men fan or action fan.

Phoenix Rises

Phoenix Rises is by far the best score I have EVER heard. I can not get enough of it. I always skip back to the begining of it to hear it again. John Powell built a beautiful Theme for Jean/Phoenix that kicks in at 2min 28sec, and I love an album that plays as one long beautiful track. Thank you John for bring life back into score.

A Small Realization

This movie really made me realize how important the score in a movie really is. I really enjoy every aspect of this score and realize without music, a moive would be nothing (Cloverfield).
