iTunes Review

Over the course of the early ‘70s, singer Vincent Furnier became Alice Cooper and by mid-decade the Alice Cooper Band ceased to function as a working hard rock group leaving Furnier on his own to soldier on as one of shock rock’s most controversial and convincing performers. Welcome to My Nightmare is Cooper’s first solo album. He collaborated with his old band’s producer, the formidable Bob Ezrin, and hard rock guitarist extraordinaire Dick Wagner, who together helped him design a tough rock sound not limited to the tried and expected. The title track, “Department of Youth” and “Cold Ethyl” keep their grounding in Cooper’s hard rock playground, but the surprisingly sensitive ballad “Only Women Bleed” would be the album’s hit. Horror film legend Vincent Price adds narration to the intro of “The Black Widow,” emphasizing Cooper’s theatrical side which is pressed into service for the album’s closing numbers. They serve as a conceptual suite as the “Steven” character spirals through this “nightmare,” with glistening pianos couching his inner thoughts.

iTunes, what have you done???

This is one of Alice Cooper's best albums ever, but some of the songs on this album that iTunes has are edited down! Why don't we have the full versions of "Welcome to My Nightmare" and "Only Women Bleed"? Where did they go? How dare they do such a thing!

Alice's best

Here it is, Alice Cooper at there best, Always thought "Steven" and "Welcome" were to of the coolest songs from the 70's. This album is a classic. all 11 tunes are great. i guarantee this one

I only give it 3 stars cuz this is not the whole album!

I thought I was paying for Alice Coopers "Welcome to My Nightmare" but I am really paying for I-tunes version.... where is Vincent Price who is mentioned in the intro to "Black Widow" in I-tunes own review!!!... gone... this is not how I remember the album.... shame on you I-tunes, this is not the album as Alice Cooper intended it!!! I think I deserve a discount for deceptive marketing!!!!!!!

Originally, there was a band called Alice Cooper led by a singer named Vincent Damon Furnier. Under his direction, Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical and violent brand of heavy metal that was designed to shock. Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville, heavy metal, and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood, and huge boa constrictors, all coordinated by the heavily made-up Furnier. By that time, Furnier had adopted the name...
