I find it funny how almost every one or two star review on here says that this isn't punk. Does it really matter? listen to the actual MUSIC and you'll see why the rest of us have fallen in love with this album... as amazing as The Spill Canvas, The All-American Rejects and All Time Low are, Three Cheers For Five Years by Mayday Parade is the highlight of this entire album. If you buy one song on here, buy that one.

Usually i stay away from these albums. but when i saw welcome to 1984 i had to get it. I thought the album was going to be a bunch of junk but ive actually really liked. though most bands here may not be punk, i like how they brought in a good mix of bands so that any one can enjoy the album. From Post-hardcore Silverstein, to Pop rock All time low, then to political punk Anti-Flag. i think it just made for a good album. Although im not sure if welcome to 1984 will get the recognition it deserves.

Most songs here are about relationships, Like mayday parade's song.... Anti-Flags song is more about what the current situation America is in. Ill try to break it down so you may all apreciate the message of the song.

"War is peace"- Anti-flag displays americas ideas of war as a way to control the people of other contries. like in the line."delivering death to make the world a better place"

Also the whole song is based on a book called nineteen eighty-four. The writer george orwell wrote what he thought the world would be in 1984. From nationalism, the world in an neverending war, and to having everything that people do monitored. It all closley resembles what we are now. Anti flag really did a good job on summarizing orwell's ideas in one song.
