Identity Crisis

This misguided release went completely ignored upon it's release in 1993, and rightfully so. A continuance from her last blase' album, Anything Is Possible, Debbie tried to be Madonna/Janet Jackson from 1990-1994. Her next album, 1995's Think With Your Heart would be a return to form, albeit a brief one. Highlights on this particular album are simply non-existent really.

The vocal on this entire album is superb, Deborah always delivers. My favorites are Love Or Money, Do You Have It In Your Heart?, Free Me, Losin Myself, When I Say No, and Tear Down These Walls. Goodbye for sentimental reasons... Despite lack of promotion from the label, Losin Myself did chart, and was a moderate video hit at VH1, and is still among the best of her videos to date. Glad to see this one here.

Most of these songs are very good and reflect a grown-up, sexier Deborah. "Losin' Myself" is the highlight. It's similar in vibe to Sade's "No Ordinary Love."
