Album Review
It's hard to think of Walker's first studio album as a debut since he has been performing worship music for over 15 years. In that time, he has penned a number of well-known anthems, including "Mourning Into Dancing" and "He Knows My Name," and released several live recordings. This album took the charged atmosphere and big heart of those projects and simply perfected it. Walker wanted to do something different for a change, and the result was monumental. I Have a Hope showed the potential to pull congregational worship out of the bland rut that it had dug into following the new millennium. Walker is a trained jazz guitarist, and his soulful vibe gave CCM a smooth sound that it had been missing for years.

by toni62babyI have been blessed by both the songs written by TW but sung by other artists, and now have the great pleasure of enjoying his music sung by him. Caught him briefly at Brooklyn Tab Memorial Day, wished he sang longer, but was bless just the same. favs on this album are Hallelujah, We Will Sing, Speak to Me, Do It Lord, and In the Light of Your Glory. The lyrics really draw you to sing the songs as a prayer; the musicality is great, and the melodies are memorable. I've been listening to Speak to Me all evening long, and will probably listen to it throughout the night.

by happydadTommy Walker is one of the most inspired worship leaders, writers, servants of our day. The spiritual content of his new album will not disappoint you. As you digest it, you will be deeply touched. The production of this is really different than his past stuff. Oddly missing is his amazing guitar work...I would be curious to know why the producers didn't have him play some solos... after all, Tommy is one of the best guitar players we've ever heard!
