Decades of space rock expertise, innovative production, and a strong Earth theme in the tradition of the early free festivals, inform this beautiful CD. Bridget Wishart was the only female lead vocalist in the forty-year history of legendary space rockers Hawkwind. For Earth Born, Wishart drew on lyrics she penned over a twenty-year span. Organized under the masterful production of Spirits Burning’s Don Falcone, the lyrics became the collaborative basis for a collective of musicians separated by thousands of miles. The lyrics were circulated to twenty-eight musicians who electronically recorded and transmitted individual track recordings to Falcone. Mixed by Falcone with Wishart’s vocals, the result is a quiet, wonderfully textured CD that ranges from space funk to jazz to minimalist. Contributors in this version of the Spirits Burning collective include Daevid Allen (Soft Machine, Gong), Simon House (Hawkwind, David Bowie), Allen Davey (Hawkwind), Trey Sabetelli (The Tubes), Richard Chadwick (Hawkwind), Richard Wileman (Karda Estra), Jasper Pattison (Citizen Fish), Huw Thomas (Hawkwind), and twenty other talents.
