Somewhat Disappointing
by KB_BocaI love Fernando Ortega's music, and I love Christmas music, so I was very excited when I discovered this album. But I have to confess, it's left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed. First of all, 2 of the 10 tracks are oldies. Let all mortal flesh and Jesus King of Angels are fantastic songs, but they appear on Fernando's previous albums, so I already own them.
The album seemed to end very quickly. Some of the songs are quite short. And overall there was a lack of depth and richness that I'd expect from Fernando Ortega. The songs seemed to be sounding the same towards the end of the album.
There really isn't any standout here (except the much older Jesus King of Angels -- all the other songs sound quite weak in comparison.) I did also like the instrumental Carol of the Birds, it is a lovely piece, but not particularly "Christmasy."
I expected this to be a standout. But unfortunately it isn't, it's just ok.
About time!!
by LoodleFernando Ortega's music is perfectly suited for Christmas. Nothing like turning the lights on the tree and contemplating what Christmas really means while listening to this!
