iTunes Review

The final concert of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour’s 2006 tour – and sadly, the last tour for the late Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright – was recorded at the Polish shipyards where Lech Walesa led the Solidarity movement against the Soviet regime in 1980. It features an entire live representation of Gilmour’s solo album, On An Island, and a smattering of Pink Floyd classics from “Astronomy Domine” to “Comfortably Numb.” With Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera keeping pace and challenging Gilmour, the performances contain a fiery element lost in the studio’s ethereal, measured perfectionism. The Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra maintains the original recordings’ grandeur, and while “Red Sky at Night” and “This Heaven” are likable excursions into Gilmour’s immense guitar talents, there’s no denying that fans will be most rewarded by Gilmour’s efforts during the Dark Side of the Moon openers “Time” and “Breathe” and the later excursions into the epic “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” “Echoes,” “Wish You Were Here” and, of course, his signature song and guitar solo, “Comfortably Numb.”

Inspired by Masterpiece!!!

This performance is a masterpiece on many levels. The guitar, vocals, feel, and sincerity of this music is almost religious in how reverence is paid to the overall delivery. This what it is all about! Bravo!!!

Wish I didn't buy this album

I had high expectations when I bought this album, especially being the last live recording with Richard Wright. But I found this to be very disappointing. I don't like how he performs most of the old Pink Floyd tunes at all, especially Shine on you crazy diamond and Comfortably Numb.

Roger Waters is way better than David Gilmore.

Gilmour's best yet

by Mike F Collins

This is the best Gilmour has ever done. And that's saying something. I swear, he sounds better than in his early days, vocally and with his guitar(s). The arrangement, effects are equally excellent. As is Gilmour's relatively new album, "On An Island". This is a must have album. Simply phenomenal.

David Gilmour is best known for his distinctively spacy, atmospheric guitar work for Pink Floyd. Born March 6, 1944, in Cambridge, England, Gilmour was well acquainted with the members of Pink Floyd when they asked him to join their band to supplement the guitar work of the increasingly erratic Syd Barrett....
