iTunes Review

The power of communal worship takes on the colors of modern Britpop on Hillsong London’s Hail to the King. A spin-off of Australia’s world-renowned Hillsong Church, this musical ministry blends a variety of sounds and textures in the service of its inclusive Christian message. A mixture of austerity and well-paced dramatics separate tracks like “Now,” “All to Show,” and the title song from the typical overkill of today’s praise music. The glistening ‘80s-influenced beat of “The Call” and the effervescent rhythm of “Rise” contrasts with the quiet reverence of “You Are Here” and the pastoral, meditative tone of “He Is Greater.” Words of faith offered to the Lord resonate with humility and gratitude and “At Your Feet” and “Look to the Cross” stand out for their spare grandeur. Those looking for a more overwhelming sonic experience may find Hail to the King too subdued in spots. But whatever the album lacks in glitz, it gains in tasteful restraint and openhearted spirituality. Hillsong London speaks convincingly to believers far beyond the land of the Union Jack.

This is my favorite track.....With so much of CCM being so generic and lifeless (thanks Nashville), I think this is a good step in the right direction for worship music.

wow!
