All Horror Movies Should Have Scores This Good
by teufelhundenIt seems like too many horror movies get cheesy, throwaway "scores" or are just lazily inundated with rock/rap music. Where is it written that just because a movie is a horror movie that it has to have something less than a full-blown, traditional film score with an orchestra sound to it? Watching "My Bloody Valentine 3D" in the theater was a blast, and a large part of that was this great score by Michael Wandmacher. The experience of the film would have been far less enjoyable if the soundrack had been populated with the garbage a lot of horror movies settle for. As a fan of horror movies, I hope that scores like this one here become more common for the genre. A film score should be able to trigger as much of an emotional response as the film it accompanies... and this score does just that. I think it is outstanding.
