Fantasic Debut Album
by Space Head 2000
I bought this album on a whim while searching for other space music. I came across it's 70's style album cover and saw the song lengths and figured it might fit into what i was looking for and boy am I glad i took the chance.
This is a great space music album! If you like Jean Michael Jarre, Edgar Froese/Tangerine Dream or especially Klaus Schulze, you probably would become big fans of these guys as well. The first song Rote Landschaft, sounded to me like an outtake from KS's "Timewind" album. From the album cover art that obviously pays tribute to many of the 70's space music albums, to the red tint of the album art that looks like it was found buried in the dirt from the red planet itself, i knew i was in for a treat.
The first song starts off with many spacey and trippy sound effects and doesn't let up until 15 minutes later. The next two songs, Trostlos and Schwerkraft, are definitely ones to dig out the headphones for, with its panning and stereo effects. The last song Ruhe Der Zeit, with its arpeggiated melody and many layers of other music, is definitely the album's masterwork. If you hadn't noticed by now I loved this album, and hopefully this review will maybe help a few other people discover what i'm sure will be an obscure classic to the people that take the risk.
