One of his best
by Soundtrack FeindWhat i love about James Newton Howard is that he is never afraid to break the mold of his previous work and surprise us. This soundtrack is definitely different, and the jazzy undertones just complete the feel of the movie. By far, 'War' is a great accompaniment to one of the funniest (and most well done) opening scenes i've seen in a clever movie like this to date, and the low string groove accompanied by spanish classical guitar, accordian and piano makes the rest of the soundtrack funny, yet sexy and playful. Definitely enjoyed this one. A bit reminiscent of the style of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, i would say, but definitely on its own playing field, still. This one is worth it.
Saw the movie, bought the music
by Albert ChirglesI hadn't gotten halfway thru the main title when I found myself thinking, Man, I hope this is on iTunes. Great jazz grooves add a fabulous edge to this smart, sexy movie.
