iTunes Review

If K-Tel ever compiled power pop hits of the ‘90s, Superdrag’s “Sucked Out” from 1996’s Regretfully Yours would be right up there with Matthew Sweet’s “Girlfriend” and Weezer’s “Buddy Holly.” The chorus of “Sucked Out” had frontman John Davis crooning, “Who sucked out the feeeling?!?” Industry Giants overflows with feeling and is the first time Superdrag has recorded with their original lineup in 11 years. It opens with “Slow to Anger,” a hard-rocking anthem loaded with more barbed hooks than a tackle box. With heavy driving guitars and quirky melodies, you can both headbang and pogo to this one. But Davis also still pens thoughtful ballads like the heady “Live and Breathe,” and his affinity for George Harrison’s eastern influenced textures and John Lennon’s quest for the perfect melody come together beautifully on “Everything’ll Be Alright.” The innovative “Aspartame” successfully experiments with the Clash’s penchant for dabbling in reggae rooted breaks. By the end of the album, Industry Giants sounds less like a comeback and more like four guys making the record they’ve always wanted.

I can definitly give this album a good run and enjoy Superdrags latest music though I've listened to most of this music and must say they havent lost their rockin' touch so I'm glad :^D

Not the best, but good enough.

Personally, I'm just happy the band is back together and that I'll have another opportunity to catch them live at Johnny Brenda's in Philly. I've been a huge fan from the beginning and have followed all their stuffever since, including John's solo stuff. I wouldn't say this album is a letdown, but it isn't their best either. I still think Head Trip in Every Key and In the Valley of Dying Stars are the best by far, and it still remains that way. Worth a buy, but not as good as past stuff.

Unbelievable!

Though many have dubbed Superdrag a punk-pop or power pop band, their music has shown itself to be atop of the aforementioned genres. Taking as much influence from the British Invasion-style pop of the Beatles and the Zombies as My Bloody Valentine and Hüsker Dü, Superdrag's songs combined melodicism...
