Album Review

CCM fans who thought that 2005's 11-song He Reigns: The Worship Collection or 2007's single-disc Greatest Hits anthology failed to do justice to the career of one of the more successful crossover Christian rock bands of the '90s will revel in 2009's two-disc, 24-track Ultimate Collection. Since 1985, Australia's Newsboys have been one of the best-selling Christian music artists, boasting a legion of devoted worshippers as well as a healthy secular fan base who were drawn to the group's early-'90s conversion from cliché-ridden, dogmatic faith peddlers to rousing and amiable alternative rock outfit.

Let's start moving on

Ok, first off, enough already, we get the fact that you like making more collections but now we have them ok? We have enough songs from the first two collections. The songs themselves are still all like little treasures to me but the novelty of the collections has worn off.
Also, come on people, get over Peter leaving. It doesn't matter if you want him back or not, he's done SO many songs over almost 20 years, isn't that enough? Its amazing he's stay as long as he has anyways. The Newsboys have been really adaptable over the years and their sound changes pretty frequently (you get a feel for that just by listening to about 5 songs over any albums), Peter's had a great run and I don't see why we can't all look at it and just say that he's good but gone.
For a while I felt sad about Peter leaving, but I got over it once I saw Michel Tate and the band in concert in LA. Ladies and Gentlemen, HE CAN SING JUST AS GOOD AS PETER and he fit in so well with the band that if I hadn't known them for so long I would NEVER have known he wasn't an original member. I hope people won't look at these songs and call them "Songs from the glory days" because there are great things to come with or without Peter.

Another One?

'Boys,
I love ya, but 3 Greatest Hits albums in like the last 2 years?
Great songs, and I figure its sort of like a sentimental hits for Peter stepping down from the lead singing position and all. I'm just ready for the new album coming in May!

We'll Miss You Peter

This is good if you are a new person to the Newsboys. Otherwise, you should already have these songs. I love the Newsboys! Click Yes if You want Peter back!

Biography

Genre: Christian & Gospel

Years Active: '90s, '00s

One of the more media-exposed Christian rock bands of the '90s, Newsboys formed in the late '80s around a core of John James, Peter Furler, and Philip Urry. Though early in their career the band was panned for a perceived over-reliance on religious clichés in their lyrics, Newsboys later grasped secular...
